Attabira, Orissa
The Attabira Ministries are under the direction of Pastor S. P. Limma. Their primary emphasis are in the following areas:
- Leper colony ministry
- Orphanage for children from leper colonies
- Outreach and literature ministry
- Church planting
Leper Colony Ministry
This ministry provides spiritual instruction and guidance to adults and children in 29 leper colonies in Orissa State as well as providing humanitarian aid to these destitute people. Pastor Limma and his staff regularly visit the colonies bringing food and clothing. At each gathering, the Word of God is preached and taught to the people.
In the colonies, the people survive by begging in the nearby towns and villages. Because of this near starvation diet, many of the people suffer from malnutrition, and tuberculosis, anemia and cholera are very prevalent. Regular medical care is unavailable to the lepers, but Pastor Limma provides medical treatment when possible.
AGAPE MANOR Orphanage
The children in the leper colonies are not allowed to attend the public schools and they cannot leave the colonies. Thus, generation after generation has grown up illiterate. A home for children from the orphanage was started at the church compound in late 2002 for children from the leper colonies through the support of the people from America. As of November, 2005 more then 210 children are being cared for at the orphanage and at the church compound. When fully completed, more than 250 children will be housed at the orphanage.
The orphanage is the only one of its kind in Orissa. At the orphanage, the children receive a Christian education and a secular education besides vocational training that will allow them to find employment outside the orphanage..
The cost of sponsoring a child at the orphanage is $28/month. If you are interested in sponsoring a child or desire further information, please contact the administrator at agapemanor@clearsail.net.
Outreach and Literature Ministry
Pastor Limma and his staff serve 31 churches in the rural areas. Church buildings are badly needed as well as transportation needs (bicycles and mopeds). In conjunction with this ministry, Bibles, tracts and Christian books are distributed in the streets of the nearby cities.
